Roger Mann
On Dec. 11, 2016, at 10:46 a.m., Roger passed away in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, at Kootenai Health, where he had been fighting numerous health problems. Roger was 68 years old.
Roger was born Aug. 14, 1948, in Lynwood, Calif., the second of five kids of Merwin and Marty Mann.
Roger joined the Army the day after the moon landing, and served as a medic in Vietnam. When he returned, he earned his master’s degree in psychology.
Roger worked as an accountant, both independently and for various companies. He served in the Rathdrum VFW and Lions Club. He was part of Word of Life & House of Worship churches. He loved the outdoors, especially visits to Glacier National Park and the Oregon Coast. He engaged in hiking, fishing, wildlife photography and natural hot springs.
He was an L.A. Dodgers fan, went to all of his grandson’s Little League games, and took the family to Spokane Indians games as often as possible. With his friends, he enjoyed conversation, learning, board games and tasting new beers and wine.
Roger was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Mann; parents Merwin and Marty Mann; and brother Dennis Mann.
Roger is survived by siblings Doug Mann, Gary Mann and Shari Ellis; son Russell Mann and daughter-in-law Sarah Mann; grandsons Isaac Mann and Judah Mann; stepson Charles Underwood and daughter-in-law Brittaney Underwood; stepson George Underwood and daughter-in-law Autumn Underwood; and granddaughters Elaina Underwood and Kristin Underwood.
There will be a memorial service at 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16, 2016, at Lake City Center, 1916 Lakewood Drive, Coeur d’Alene, followed by an informal get-together potluck and BYOB at the same location.
Roger’s remains will be placed in Pineview Cemetery in Rathdrum — in the Veterans corner with Patricia’s remains — at a later time.
