Roger D. Switzer, 85, of Coeur d' Alene, ID, died at the Hospice House of North Idaho on Friday September 15th, 2017. Roger spent his last days surrounded by his family. He was born on April 15th, 1932 in Libby, Montana to Earle and Waneta Woodruff Switzer. Raised and educated in Libby, Roger graduated from Libby High School with the class of 1950. After working in the lumber industry for many years, he earned a degree in Architectural Engineering from the University of Montana. With his degree, Roger then worked for Bechtel in Palo Verde, Arizona until retirement. He was a talented wood carver, earning a multitude of ribbons at various local wood carving conventions and shows. Huckleberry picking, hunting with a bow and arrow, fishing, and spending time with his wife Helga were his favorite pastimes. Roger also enjoyed singing in German choir, and played the piano and the Constantina as well. Survivors include his wife and best friend Helga, Coeur d' Alene; brother Bruce Switzer, Libby MT; daughter Doris Dale and family, Monroe WA; daughter Lisa Holcomb and family, Rockville IN; son Andree Gilmore, Murrieta CA; and numerous friends and relatives. Funeral Services will be Saturday September 23rd, 2017 at 10:00AM, at the Christ The King Lutheran Church, 1700 E. Pennsylvania Ave. Coeur d' Alene, ID. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Hospice House of North Idaho, who helped make Roger's last days peaceful.
