He was a Navy Veteran that served during WWII. He proudly served aboard the USS Dunlap and the USS Rolette. During his later years, he enjoyed telling stories about his adventures.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ada June Nolen, daughter Janet Hill, son Roger Nolen and his favorite son-in-law Ronald Flanders.
He leaves quite a legacy considering he was exposed to radiation during the Bikini Bomb Test in the Marshall Islands and told he'd never have children!
He is survived by his daughter Junette Flanders of Kinsley, KS as well as 10 grandchildren including Tami Flanders Delgado of Spokane WA, Aaron Flanders of Red Springs, NC and Jayna Helm of Filmore CA.
He also has at least 7 great-grands including Ian Flanders, Brendan Delgado, Kyle Preston, Matthew Helm and Clark Helm...and even some great-great grands including Mason Romie Flanders, Michael Preston and Valyree Preston.
In his final year he was well cared for by his "Moonbeam" in her home where he was happy, her grandson Killian was his little buddy and would take him his hot tea and listen to his stories every Saturday.
He will be very missed and never forgotten. Ian (also a Navy Vet) said it best: There will never be another like him, Fair Winds and Following Seas...
