Ruth was born on Oct. 29th, 1926 in Seattle, Washington. At the age of 90+ years she passed away in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho on July 20th, 2017. She was preceded in death by her parents Frank Joseph Brys and Beatrice Virginia Huckle Brys, her brother Frank H. Brys, and also two sons, James Frederick Greenback and Dale Arthur Greenback.
One of her favorite times was working in the bulb fields in Bellevue at her Great Uncle John Joseph Brys, daffodil, iris, and tulip fields. This is on 148th in Bellevue where the blueberry farm is today on Larson Lake. Another time was going down the rapids with her son and family. Ruth was filled with vitality and the ethic of working to the end. Which she did. She was employed by Fred Meyers of Overlake, Bellevue, Washington for many years. She worked in the yarn and craft department, which she really enjoyed. She retired from them at the age of 65 and moved to Coeur d’Alene to be near her daughter, Cynthia. She has been a lifelong knitter, with a love for sewing, and cooking as well as thoroughly enjoying her family and helping others for all her life. She belonged to the KnitWhits in Coeur d’Alene, knitting baby garments for the needy. She cared for her Mother the last 6 years of her life and she was also a member of a Muscular Dystrophy group for a few years.
She graduated from West Seattle High School attending there only 1 year. The rest of her schooling was in Bellevue, Washington, including the little old Factoria School which had 4 grades in each room, graduating from 8th grade there.
Her marriage took place in her parents’ home in West Seattle to her Soldier, Floyd James Greenback, the 23nd of January, 1945. They lived in California where he was stationed during World War II, until the war ended in 1945.They were married 38 years before Floyd’s death.
She leaves behind daughters Cynthia Bast of Coeur d’Alene, Michelle Greenback of Nevada, her daughter-in-law Kay Greenback, grandchildren Tom and Steve Greenback, Gary, Roger, Chip, Chris, Patrick and their spouses. Gary and Shannon Slettin. 15 great Grandchildren and two great great Grandchildren.
