Sandra “Sam” Johnson, age 71, took a walk with the angels to be with the Lord on January 5, 2023, after a long battle with COPD, surrounded by her family, she took her final breath and peacefully passed away.
Sam was born to Roy and Hazel Jones on October 15, 1951, in North Bend, Oregon.
Sam had a passion for family. She was always the first to step up and help with a function, be it birthdays, weddings, or any other special occasion. Any reason to bring the people she loved most in the world together. One of her most favorite places to be was near the water. She loved fishing and spending time with her family. There were 3 things you could always count on her to make; zucchini bread, mashed potatoes, and the best roquefort dressing you would ever taste in your life.
Her hobbies were far and wide, from baking, to playing in the dirt gardening, to party planning. She was always ready and excited to have fun, making her the life of any party. Knowing Sam was an honor, but to have her love was a blessing. She had such an immense effect on anyone that she met. You just couldn’t help but love her.
Sam married her husband Chuck in Reno, Nevada in May of 1979 before moving to North Idaho in 1980. Sam received her education in accounting and bookkeeping at North Idaho College. Sam and Chuck then operated multiple successful ventures such as an insulation company, and a janitorial business, and ran a certified family home
taking care of elderly and disabled adults. Sam’s loving character and kind heart made her the perfect person to help those in need.
She had an adoration for coffee, so much so that she
fulfilled a lifelong dream of opening a coffee shop that she named after her father John Ross, and thus JR Perk was born. She quickly came to realize her love for business, coffee and community could go hand in hand and used the platform for countless fundraisers and other community charity projects.
Sam is survived by her children Wayne Johnson and wife Dawn (Port Townsend,WA); Eric
Thorneycroft and Ex-wife Nikki (Post Falls, ID); Tana Johnson (Rathdrum, ID); and Denise
