Shirley Ewert

Shirley Anne Ewert, 80, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2016. The funeral service was held Saturday, Oct. 15, 2016, at English Funeral Chapel.

Shirley was born in Oklahoma City, Okla., on Nov. 20, 1935. She graduated from Chico High School and spent years of faithful service in her church community — leading women’s groups, singing in the choir — but the greatest gift she gave was to her family, making her home a wonderful place to come home to at the end of each day. She was affectionately known for her cinnamon rolls, pumpkin chiffon pie, her gift of sewing and she was loved for her sweet, kind and generous heart, her love for God and commitment in prayer.

She was married to Lawrence Henry Ewert on April 30, 1954.

Shirley is survived by Lawrence Ewert; her siblings, Clara (Alda) Hobson, Beverly Johnson (and husband Al), Jerry Cunningham (and wife Gloria), Donna Thornton (and husband Mike), and Carol Gardner (and husband Donald); daughter Lorraine Ruth Box and husband Stephen; son Larry H. Ewert Jr. and wife Roberta; grandsons Deryck Robert Box, Dustin Michael Box and Travis Jase Ewert; great-grandchildren Avalon Grace Box, Anna Joy Box, Tristan Levi Box, Stephen Robert Box II, Cohen Asher Box and Aria Haven Box; nieces and nephews; and other family and friends.

Shirley is preceded in death by her father and mother Donnie (Bill) and Verla Cunningham; sister Wanda Witt and first born child, Kathy Diane Jacobson.

The family of Shirley Ewert wishes to thank Pacifica Assisted Living and Auburn Crest Hospice for the great love and care in the last years and days of her life. We are so grateful for the loving care and visits of Vicki from Valley Assembly in Spokane Valley that regularly came and sat with Shirley even in her last days.
