On Feb 6, 2025 Sue Nordstrom left us to be with her three sisters and brother in Heaven. Sue passed away peacefully at her home in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho at the age of 77 from heart failure, with her husband and daughter by her side, under the care of Eden Hospice.
Susan Florence (Plummer) Nordstrom was born on Jan 29, 1948 in Montclair, New Jersey. Sue is one of nine children and is preceded in death by her parents Marian and Arthur Plummer, siblings Judy Silver, Richard Plummer, Barbara Lane and Betsy McKeon.
Sue was a hair dresser in Jersey, rode motorcycles, loved to water ski and had her two children Matthew McComb in 1970 and Marian McComb in 1971. Sue and her children lived in Fresno, California prior to moving to Hayden Lake, Idaho in 1975. Sue opened a beauty salon ‘He and She Hair Studio’, in Dalton Gardens. She played softball and was on a bowling league. Her sister Candy introduced her to the #1 North Idaho Logger and Heavy Equipment Operator, Norm Nordstrom at the ‘Cotton Club’ in Hayden around Oct 1978 – three months later they were married on Jan 27, 1979. Sue, Matt and Marian moved into Norm’s lake cabin in Bayview on beautiful Lake Pend Oreille. Norm and Sue remained in Bayview for the next 34 years.
Sue sold her beauty salon around 1987 and they bought a restaurant, ‘M & M’s Burger Bar’ in Bayview, it was a huge success for about nine years. Around 1993 they sold the Burger Bar and bought the ‘Captain’s Wheel’ in Bayview until around 2000.
Sue was a self-taught artist, loved to paint, loved anything Mickey Mouse and later collected gnomes. She enjoyed sitting on her deck in Bayview overlooking Lake Pend Oreille, swimming, and watch the ‘Unpredictable’ catch fish. She especially loved Bayview’s 4th of July Fireworks, played cards, mahjong, enjoyed her beautiful flower garden and was a member of the Red Hat Society.
