Travis Clay

Travis William Clay, 41, of Coeur d ‘Alene, died unexpectedly Monday Oct 2nd, 2017 in a car accident on Interstate 90, just outside of Coeur D' Alene, Idaho. Travis was the oldest of 3 sons.

Travis was born on March 19th, 1976, to Gary and Connie (Brandon) Clay, at LDS Hospital in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He attended Eagle Rock Junior High and Skyline High School, later receiving his GED. In 1996, Travis and then girlfriend Kristi Chacon were blessed with the birth of his first daughter, Cortney Marie Clay. Two years later in 1998, Travis married Kristei Hogan, who gave birth to his second daughter Riley. He and Kristei divorced one year later. In 2000, Travis moved from Idaho Falls to Coeur d‘Alene where he met Yvette Payton and in 2002 they were married and welcomed the birth of his daughter, Morgan Jesse Clay, and in 2004, they welcomed Karlie Jo Clay. Travis and Yvette divorced in 2012.

At the time of his death, Travis lived in Coeur d ‘Alene and was employed at Northwest Building Components, a job he loved. Travis's favorite thing in life was anything he could do outdoors. He loved to go camping and exploring in the mountains with his family, but fishing was his biggest enjoyment. In fact, if he ever came up missing he could always be found on Fernan Lake, searching for that record Catfish. He also loved anything that he could do with his 2 brothers, David and Cody, or anything that involved his beautiful daughters.

Travis is survived by his parents, Gary Clay of Coeur D' Alene, ID and Connie Brandon, of Coeur d' Alene, ID.; His two brothers, David (Alecia) Clay of Kellogg, ID and Cody Clay of Coeur D' Alene, ID; His four children, Cortney Clay (21) of Spokane, WA, Riley Hendrickson (18) of Rigby, ID, Morgan Jesse (14) and Karlie Jo (12) Clay, both of Post Falls, ID; His two nieces, Natasha Smith and Savannah Clay; and his two nephews, Jayce Davis and Jonah Clay. Travis was also expecting his first grandchild.

The Clay family would like to extend their appreciation to Northwest Building Components for their generous donation towards funeral costs. The Clay family would also like to extend our greatest and deepest sympathies to the family of Patricia Mahoney. We know words are meaningless, but our thoughts and prayers go out to Patricia's husband Shane and her 3 sons, Patrick, Kieran and Kevin. May you find peace in your time of sorrow.

A small private memorial service will be held by invitation only at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made for Travis's children by contacting Alecia Clay at [email protected]
