Verna Christensen

VERNA MAE CHRISTENSEN (Stumptner), 85, of Rathdrum, Idaho, formerly of Annapolis, Maryland, went to be with her Lord on Sunday October 8, 2017. She passed peacefully in her sleep of natural causes following a nearly three year battle with Alzheimer's.

Verna was born to Albert and Mary Stumptner on November 21, 1931 in Baltimore, Maryland, and was their only child. She graduated from St. Mary's Roman Catholic High School in 1950, and in 1953 married Raymond J. Christensen.

Verna worked at Annapolis Banking and Trust for many years until she retired. During her retirement years, she volunteered at Anne Arundel Medical Center as an assistant to the nursery photography department. During this time, she enjoyed knitting newborn baby hats to donate to the hospital every Christmas.

Verna is survived by her 4 children: Susan (husband Jim), Laura, David (wife Leisa) and Scott (wife Becky); 8 grandchildren: Karen, Craig (deceased), Nicholas, Justin, Kristen, Bryan, Bradley, and Sarah; and 7 great grandchildren.

Public viewing will be available Friday, October 13th from 4 - 7 PM at Taylor Funeral Home on Duke of Gloucester Street, Annapolis, Maryland. There will be a graveside service on Saturday the 14th at Hillcrest Cemetery at 11:00 AM.
