Veta Pauline (Samsel) Patton was born in Winchester, Idaho, to Lawrence and Lilas Samsel. She had two brothers and four sisters…Doris, Agnes and Gladys preceded her in death; and Harold, Lois and George survive her. Veta spent her growing up years in Winchester and married Albert Morris Patton (June 8, 1921-Jan. 5, 2010) in Asotin County, Wash., April 19, 1947. She had two children, Karen Lee DeSeve and Kenneth Morris Patton (Sept. 8, 1951-Dec. 21, 2011).
After raising her children in Othello and Spokane, Wash., Veta became an LPN and worked at Sacred Heart Hospital’s Isolation Ward and Emergency Room in Spokane. She loved to travel, she was a talented seamstress, crocheted, knitted and created beautiful handcrafts. She was active in the Post Falls Senior Center, volunteering generously of both her time and financial support.
She found peace from debilitating heart disease on Aug. 20, 2016, in the Hospice House of North Idaho in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
Family was paramount in her life and she will be sorely missed by her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Kenneth DeSeve; daughter-in–law Dionne Bradley; granddaughters and sons-in-law, Ginger and John Verhaag, Wendy and John Fishburne, Levi and Keatra Patton, Gabriel and Rob Harder, and Christopher Patton; 12 great-grandchildren; and her large extended family.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, 2016, at the Evergreen Cemetery in Post Falls, followed by a potluck dinner at the DeSeve’s home.
