William Eggers

William “Bill” Joseph Eggers passed away Nov. 22, 2017, after a brief illness. Born April 15, 1929, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane, Bill spent his early childhood in Mullan, Idaho, and Colfax and Chewelah, Wash.

He is survived by Maggie Owens, mother of their five children: Shawn (Helen), Maureen (Albert), Patrick, Michael (Debbie) and Michelle; grandson Dominic Lodovici; and 10 nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his parents, Arbin and Anna Eggers; and brothers Stewart (USMC) and Robert (Col., USMC Ret.).

Bill was a quiet, very proud veteran, joining in 1946. He served as a Navy radioman throughout the Korean War, and then served with the Air Force, first at NORAD, and then with the Armed Forces Radio and Television Network in the Philippines during the Vietnam War, until his retirement in 1967. Bill and his brothers’ lifelong inter-service rivalry was a source of entertainment for all, but made for an inseparable bond between them. Bill’s quick wit and silky smooth golf swing were his trademarks, and along with his faith in Jesus Christ, carried him through to his passing.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, 2017, at St. George’s Catholic Church, 2010 N. Lucas St., Post Falls, Idaho, with military honors. Burial at Holy Cross Cemetery at 2 p.m.
