Zoell McKenzie

Zoell Mary (Fortier) McKenzie passed away on November 14, 2019. She was born on May 23rd, 1937 in St. Paul, Minnesota. She attended school in North St. Paul, Minnesota.

Zoell married Dennis McKenzie on August 30, 1958. They had eight children together.

She was very active in church and church functions. Zoell was in charge of funeral dinners at St. Pius X in Coeur d’Alene for several years. She was a Catholic Daughter and was a member of The Divine Mercy Group. She served on the St. Vincent de Paul Board, as well.

Zoell was a Gonzaga Bulldogs fan.

She worked at the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift store, Ace Hardware on Sherman Ave. and had a typing service all while helping her husband with bookkeeping and payrolls.

Zoell loved to read and knit. She was Mom to not only her children, but many other people too! She loved being a Mom and loved babies and children.

Her husband, Denny, died on December 16, 1999. She missed him so much and couldn’t wait to be with him again. They loved going out dancing together. Now she can dance with Denny again.

Zoell is preceded in death by her husband, Denny; her sons, Ron and Dave; her parents and her younger brother, Bill Fortier.

Zoell is survived by her sons, Greg (Jackie), Dan, Steve (Kari)and Keith; her daughters, Sharon and Julie; her grandchildren Anthony, Marcus, Josh, Gracie and Kristi; her brother Leo (Joy) Fortier.

We would like to thank the Staff at Living Springs Assisted Living for taking such good care of Mom! Also, thanks to Hospice for being there for her and the family in her last days.

A Rosary for Zoell will be 6:30 p.m. Friday November 22, 2019, at the English Funeral Chapel, 1700 N. Spokane St., Post Falls, ID.  Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday November 23, 2019, at St. George’s Catholic Church, 2010 N Lucas St, Post Falls, ID.
